Ice conditions continue to improve in the Detroit Lakes area and we gained a few inches this last week with the severe cold snap.
Walleye fishing was as inconsistent as the weather with a short evening bite window. Pan fish continue to be highly sought after and cooperative on area lakes.
Most lakes have 10-15” of ice now. A few lakes are drive out, but another week will create more drive out lakes.
This Saturday on Little Detroit Lake there will be a free kids fishing derby under a 40-140ft heated tent. Ice fishing experts will be helping and providing seminars. Bait and grab bag of fishing items provided free as well as food. The event will run from 11-2 with registration starting at 10 a.m.
